01 / Intent
Arch & Ground is a footwear label in formation — a study of the shoe a dancer actually needs.
The name holds the whole question. The arch: what the foot does when it is asked to be an instrument. The ground: what answers it back — a sprung floor, a studio marley, a stage that has held a thousand nights.
Between those two things sits a shoe. We think it can be made better, more honestly, and with more respect for the people who wear it out. That is the work we are starting.
The premise
Comfort and design should never be a trade-off. A shoe that carries you all evening is allowed to be the best-looking thing in the room.
